The ultimate guide for your Bahamas trip: Part 1

Bahamas and its amazing beaches

Swimming with the sharks, feeding sting rays and enjoying crystal clear water.
Those were the main reasons why me and Daniil wanted to go to Bahamas, for many people destination seen as honeymoon treat.
Bahamas are a group of about 700 islands so planning of your trip is the key.We decided to visit three following islands: Nassau, Staniel Cay and Great Exuma.

Day 1 and 2: Nassau
Whether you travel with your partner, family or friends and are looking for island with plenty of shops, resorts and things to do, Nassau is perfect for you. There is well known hotel Atlantis with its water park and its slide going through water full of sharks. You can take a walk in the city centre and visit galleries or museums, for rum lovers there is a John Watling’s distillery and of course you should at least try Bahamian typical sweet: rum cake. I really didn’t find out how they do it but imagine nice sponge cake, just.. marinated / completely soaked in rum, followed by the sweetest taste you can dream about. By the way, by this time I have decided to break my sugar free rule and tried the cake. It made me so full I didn’t eat anything for the rest of the day.
(Ps: If you are food lover as I am, keep reading, there will be more.)
At Nassau, the most beautiful beach was Cabbage beach and Cable beach. I would recommend Cabbage beach even though it is a bit further (ehm, if you are not staying at Atlantis). It was definitely worth it!

Day 3, 4 and 5: Staniel Cay
I was really excited to move a bit further from Nassau as Staniel Cay and Exumas are much less commercial and busy.
Staniel Cay can seem like not really exciting place to go but the opposite is the truth. It is actually really good strategical spot where to stay – from there you can either rent a boat as we did, or just join many of locally offered tours around. And this is what you came for: feeding pigs and Iguanas or swim with sharks.
For getting around it is amazing to rent a golf car – we totally fell in love with this way of transport! We went to do our groceries, to the Yacht club for dinner or just simply getting around. Talking about getting your food: I think that the island’s motto should be sarcastic “Well, welcome to Bahamas” as this is response from many people answering your surprised face when questioning about opening hours of local grocery shop. It can get really irregular and depends on God knows what when the stores are open – especially out of the touristic season.
At Staniel Cay you should go to the Yacht club where local fishermen come everyday with their catch of the day. You can watch them clean the fish and feed the sharks there. You can also enjoy the view on many beautiful yachts parked there: We were lucky to see amazing yacht called Usher (honestly, I thought it’s his. If I had yacht this, it would be definitely called “Lucie” or “It is mine.).

Day 6, 7 and 8: Great Exuma
Apart from the other beautiful beaches there, you should definitely go to Chat N’ Chill caffe: Seeing the sting rays and be able to feed them was something I will never ever forget. I was sitting in the white sand on the shallow part of the ocean and they just came around, so beautiful and calm. I have to say, I did have some respect! They are still wild animals and you should be careful when being around them. But definitely, don’t be scared and try to feed them. The feeling is crazy.
On the opposite side from Chat N’ Chill cafe, there is a beach, the ocean side. It has got amazing view and a bit wilder water. Plus, it is a bit tricky there. You have to go there in the morning when the water is lower, because you have to cross a little part where water is and has got a bit current. And the water gets higher. On the pictures you can see what we had to do because the water went up :).
Another beautiful beach you can find in the Bahamas is the one at Tropic of Cancer.Located at 23 26N 75 35W, the beach is named after the meridian line that defines the northern extent of the tropics and crosses right through it. (Okay, I copied this sentence somewhere from Google!). But the beach was probably the most beautiful place I have ever been.

On our last day we went back to Nassau and then got connecting flight to Atlanta and then back to London.
I didn’t want to make this post too long so in few days you can expect another one, about food, accommodation and travel around Bahamas!

Summer is over but I am back

summer is over

Okay, so it’s been almost three hours for which I was sitting here, going through September issue (talking about Vogue, of course!), watching silly series and thinking how to start again with my blog. Yep, it’s been more than 7 months since I wrote my last post. And it was so positive, you know, saying all these things about me starting the school and being organised, about having everything scheduled etc.

But I feel like life sometimes doesn’t want to work this way and is doing whatever it wants. And that some bullshit happen.

I really don’t know how to start so let’s just take it first things first.
In February I started my diploma course at Fashion Retail Academy. I was so excited but also a bit scared! You know, when I am entering new environment, it is really difficult for me to talk to the people, in foreign language even more ( – they for sure think that I am a complete idiot, the girl who doesn’t know what is she talking about.) But anyway, I gained confidence at school. Confidence in myself, confidence in my skills and I also found what I love to do and what I would love to do for my career.

During this crazy period I didn’t have time for anything – all these assignments effected my blog, doing outfits, going to the gym. And what it affected most was my healthy lifestyle. I remember that moment in March when I just burned out (like a fire cracker, believe me) and started eating crap. Like real crap. I must admit that I broke my sugar-free lifestyle and sinned and sinned and sinned.
Thanks to the full school timetable I couldn’t work as much as I wanted and couldn’t afford any shopping or whatsoever. For 7 months! That is really crazy for somebody like me. I know that I am being drama queen here but that is the thing: Once you get use to your own money and the luxury that you can afford to buy something every month, it is obviously hard to give it up.
I also had to change my job to have even less hours and so have more time for working on school projects.
I didn’t have time to see and visit my family, to travel or at least have some free time for my boyfriend.

Was it all worth it?

So much. I think this was the first time when I recognised that hard work pays of. I had the opportunity to work for Gucci,  recently I was offered a fantastic job of buyer’s admin assistant, I got a distinction from my final project at school, I have met amazing people and gained so much valuable knowledge and skills..
I don’t want to say that I am finally happy because I think that happiness should be unconditional. But I can say that I found partly my inner piece. That I don’t worry anymore about my career path because I set it up. That my job is not stressing me out anymore and I am not coming home tired. That I am starting again with sugar free lifestyle and am so excited about it:)

Okay guys, that’s probably it for tonight, I will see you here next week!

xx

What happened last week III/II

666 Untitled-1 Unt2itled-1 3 4 5

Hey babes!

Monday evening and post which was suppose to be uploaded yesterday, eh. It’s been hectic weekend and very quickly running week! Since last Monday I prayed for my holidays to come and then it came – since Thursday I enjoyed my free time spent mostly with Daniil. Damn, how much I needed holidays!

Last week I finished the sequin dress I’ve been working on – and as it is Monday and I am doing random post, the final look will be just surprise for you haha. I mean, if you are curious how does it look like…:D

On Friday we went to this place called Pitt Cue. Daniil loves meat, I love Daniil and fatty pork so this place was the right choice. We were eating ox heart, pig’s trotter, crispiest bacon ever and ox’s cheeks. Everything was delicious but at home I just fell asleep in heavy over-fat coma. Plus the wine we had. Uh! I felt a bit sick to be honest, but the food was divine, I can really recommend the restaurant. Just be fast with their specialities on the menu – they disappear fast!

On Saturday we went to Canary Wharf to fish market. It was amazing and I don’t regret the early wake up at all. For sure it is great idea to visit this even if you are tourist here in London – so unusual experience! We bought fish (red snapper, never heard about it before:D – we bought it considering size, colour and price:D) and tiger prawns – have to proudly say, I did really good job with both of them. See pictures and droll over:D.
I love the part around Canary Wharf, maybe because the talk buildings and industrial part with the port reminds me New York? How much I dream about the city guys, I really hope we  will move there next year..

Then we went to see the movie Fifty shades darker. Simply by one sentence – don’t waste your money on tickets for it. I love Dakota but I really hope she can do better than this – but I believe that this got her so much up – the cinema was so full and it is one of those smaller ones in London where usually nobody goes. The story of the movie was very weak. The book is still more worth to read than the movie to see.. :( But still – I loved the costumes, I loved the gestures Cristian was doing, etc:)
Sunday was very nice day, lazy morning and just about me and Daniil…

Okay, by this I have to stop myself to don’t make you fall asleep by way to long post:) I am so tired today! I had my enrolment day at school and then some appointments to do and came home exhausted. Quickly cooked dinner and meals for the week and now just chilling with Daniil..

Have a great night everyvone xxx

Palm Vaults: When you have your expectations

IMG_0997 IMG_0985 IMG_0983 IMG_0988 IMG_0990

So I’ve been hearing for few weeks already about this cafe called Palm Vaults – the super Instagrammable café in London. I’ve been waiting for my days off to take the journey to Hackney to find out what is it about this place. Actually, it wasn’t really journey as the place is near to us (King’s Cross) so I just took the overground (and made my HIT training in form of catching train) and walked a bit to the Mare street, 411. I would almost miss it! But then I spotted the retro / Miami relaxed styled sign “Palm “Vaults and went in. The girls behind the cashier were super nice and willing to explain me everything and do small substitutions for my drink.
Let’s talk about the main part everybody is interested in: The colorful coffee drinks, smoothies and food. I went for the Velvet latte – with powdered beetroot for its typical pink color. In original recipe the coffee is made with oat milk and agave syrup. I went for cashew milk and version without the syrup. And it was perfect. Really nice coffee with just tiny feeling of the beetroot  – but I believe if you go for the agave syrup added to it, you will barely feel it. Even I went for cashew milk, the foam on my latte was perfect (damn, how did they do it?)
I was also thinking about the Lavender latte but pink is my color – but the lavender, hm, next time for sure!

The interior inside is cute. Flowers and plants hanging everywhere, overall nice atmosphere. But I had the feeling that the space is missing something – not sure if they could decorate it a bit different way, use different chairs? In some moments I had a feeling I am sitting in a reception of little hotel somewhere at Miami, honestly. I just had the feeling that it needs something to lift up the amazing coffee, to be just itself!
Take a look also on the menu – I believe after your workout or long day at work, the smoothies there can really fill you up, without the feeling of guilty cheating on your meal plan. Same with their toasts or granola. I didn’t go for any of this, you know how picky (and sugar free) I am.
Also again, I had a feeling that pretty toasts with avocado and acai bowl has been somewhere… :)
Guys, am I too cruel? I just mean it the best possible and honest way. Once you’ll go there, let me know how did you feel!

What happened last week II/II

sugar free desert and random post of the week

Good morning to all of you!

I don’t know, where to start today. It’s been so busy week that for the next weekly random post I must do some notes on daily basis to remember what everything I wanted to share with you guys!
This week it was almost just me at home as Daniil left for his friend’s birthday party to the Netherlands. I was quite excited to have weekend for myself and sewing but.. You know what, is sucked. I missed my boyfriend so badly! The weather wasn’t helping at all so when I was on my way home from shopping, I wasn’t excited about the empty flat, about not doing our jokes or being together. But I have to admit I did lots of sewing though. I’ve been working on new sewing project – working name is dress for Daniil’s birthday party. And the dress is for me, just to let you know. It is like this – for every smaller or bigger occasion I get excited so easily that I have to simply create new outfit for it, cook something special for it or simply organize the whole event. Yep Lucie, that’s you, you little bossy girl.
So I said, I’ve done another sewing project which I absolutely love love love (see blog posts in following weeks), went through bunch of magazines and cleaned up my closet. I also successfully finished first week without carbs (eating carbs only in vegetable, nuts, cocoa or.. actually that might be it!) so I am so proud about myself. And from the picture above you can see that when you quit carbs, you don’t quit desserts for breakfast! Visit this amazing blog of a girl called Janina who writes about her sugar free life and shares amazing recipes. Yesterday I baked her brownies (with a little paleo twist) and they are divine. The cream on top is just sweet positive side of high fat diet:D

What about you guys, what have you done for last week to be proud of? :)

PS: I found one amazing thing: My boyfriend probably wears only one sock / has got one real leg only / Our washing machine is eating socks. Honestly, this morning when I was folding his socks, I had 6 spares socks. And I’ve already sorted them out like million times! Anybody has got any clue about this?

PS2: Next time I am definitely coming to Netherlands. Yesterday night I had Face Time with Daniil and saw all the amazing people I can call my friends. I miss you guys so badly! And Happy B-Day Thijs! I would change partying with you guys for all cashew butter in the world! :D
